In case anyone's interested, Butterfly Jones' album Napalm Springs is now out. I just got my copy, and I'll be reviewing it in the next few days. |

Dada bassist/singer/songwriter Joie Calio has set up his own website to promote his new band, Candy Apple Black. You can also download three free demos from MP3.com. Check them out."Stupid Songs About Love" is a terrific song, with echoes of 80s power pop but more energy and more vocal and instrumental harmonies. I will buy a candy Apple Black album for this song alone. "Habit Forming" and "Morning Sickness" are almost as excellent, so if you like "Stupid Songs" get the whole set. |

Just saw this on Joie Calio's website:"dada is getting a touring strategy together and plans to write new material also. i don't think anything will start 'till next year but ya never know...." If this pans out, Not News readers will know it from the sound of me whooping in delight. |

Is that what that sound was? Whew. I thought someone stubbed their toe.Me, I'm still maintaining a slight grin from the recent revelation from the president of the ELO fan club that "Jeff Lynne is busy in the studio." Now, he could be producing someone else, or doing a bit of vacuuming and dusting, but I have yet to see Lynne vanish into a studio and not come out with something brilliant, or at least listenable. |

Well, it hasn't happened yet, so whatever you thought you heard, it wasn't me. Calio's also still working on his solo project, to boot, so that's pretty cool as well. |

We are almost, but not quite, at the point of whooping. The band has announced plans to do a 2003 tour, and release a live album based on that tour, while also releasing an album of previously unreleased tracks from their sessions while under contract to MCA. |

Ever closer to whooping. The tour kicks off this week out west, with the following dates:3/13 @ the House of Blues in LA on the Strip 3/14 @ the House of Blues in Las Vegas 3/15 @ the Coach House in San Juan Capistrano The band will probably be heading to the upper midwest after that, with a stop in Chicago currently scheduled for April 18. I am hoping that late spring/early summer will see them hit Philly, but I'll have to be patient. More info in this thread as it becomes available, or check out Dizzkneeland.com's tour page. |
