I'm currently in my fourth year in the PhD program in philosophy at Temple University, focusing on pragmatism and democratic theory. I got my BA from Fordham University, where I worked on the college paper and fully intended to be a journalist before I decided that teaching was more up my alley. I did a brief stint hosting entertainment-related chats for Omni Internet before they went under, and have done a bit of writing for The LogBook, an excellent site that includes TV episode guides, music and book reviews, information on old video games, and more. Most of my hobbies and interests are in full display on this site, although we haven't gotten a sports section up and I am a die hard fan of just about every Philadelphia team. Politically, I consider myself liberal-to-moderate, but if someone ever holds a tar-and-feathering party for Bill Clinton, be sure to send me an invitation. My musical and comics tastes are already posted on the respective forums, but I have not yet found a place to mention that my favorite movie is The Shawshank Redemption, a problem I hope to remedy soon.
As for how I got here -- I've been wanting to get onto the Web for a long time now, but never felt like I had something to say that was worth the time and the effort. A series of events over the six months prior to our launch prodded me to start figuring out a way to get off my butt and start doing something productive with myself, and this is what resulted, with a lot of help from my wonderful wife Pattie and Kevin, my best friend and partner in journalistic crime back at Holy Ghost Prep. We hope you're all enjoying youselves.
